• Kinmount Cleanup, Newbie Run Highlights & Trail Safety Reminders

    Last Weekend Highlights

Thanks to everyone who helped out this weekend at Kinmount Fairgrounds—a small but mighty crew pushed through the rain to keep cleanup efforts moving forward. There’s still plenty to clear before Camp NL, and we’re planning another round soon.

Stay tuned and we hope to see even more volunteers next time—ideally with better weather!

We also want to acknowledge the team who took on Moose Trail this weekend. They made steady progress and were joined by a few helpful dirt bike and ATV riders—one even had a chainsaw on hand. Unfortunately, they hit a complete and extensive blockage that will need more work to clear. The local snowmobile club is joining in this week to assist.

If you’re available to help this weekend or in the near future, please email us at of4wdcleanup2025@of4wd.com.

It also felt like the season was truly kicking into gear: we hosted our first Newbie Run and saw rookie runs from member clubs across Ontario.  It’s always exciting to see new faces out on the trails, learning what their rigs can do, connecting with our broader off-road community, and embracing our Tread Lightly principles.

    Stay Trail-Ready

The OF4WD Trail Database is your go-to for trail status. Even cleared trails can change quickly—especially with lingering debris that may fall during storms or wind events.

And don’t forget: some trails change access points during the season due to land use agreements and partnerships. These changes will be reflected in the database.

Example: The Minden hydroline access changes after September 14th, but until then we have a set turn around point (see photo attached of the sign on the trail) —check the database before you head out.

    Trail Safety Checklist:

    • Don’t take unnecessary risks
    • Watch for hanging branches and unstable trees
    • Do not create bypasses (trail braiding)
    • Can’t safely clear something?
      • Turn around
      • Take photos & GPS/what3words
      • Submit a trail report
