As expected, trail access this spring has been slower in areas hit hard by the winter storm. But thanks to recent volunteer efforts, we’re pleased to report that some central region trails will be open for the Long Weekend—and other regions across Ontario have dried out well and are opening too.

Central Region Trails Opening:

• Concession
• Forest Mountain
• Gooderham North (top end to Salmon Lake Rd)
• Pencil Lake – open from 507 to the long water crossing (turnaround required)

Additional openings are expected—check the OF4WD Trail Database over the next few days for real-time updates.

If you are heading out please be prepared in case hanging branches have now become new debris on the trail that needs to be cleared.

Long Weekend Volunteer Call – May 18-20

We’re continuing cleanups in the Kawartha Lakes / Haliburton area and are looking for volunteers this weekend.

This is a trail work day, not a wheeling event

Meet at: Tim Hortons, Bobcaygeon

 9:30 AM – Saturday, Sunday & Monday

(look for the black Jeep with blue writing)

 

What to Bring:

• Volunteers must be current OF4WD members
• Chainsaws/loppers welcome (only if you’re confident and prepared)
• Eye protection, gloves, sturdy footwear required
• Waivers signed on-site
• Pack food, water, and the right gear for the day

Safety Reminders For Anyone Out On A Trail:

• Don’t take risks.
• Watch for hanging branches or unstable debris.
• Do not make bypasses around obstacles (trail braiding).
• If you cannot safely clear something:
  • Please turn around
  • Take photos and GPS location (if possible)
  • Submit a trail report
