Fire Season

Summer is here and the weather has been very dry. This brings an elevated risk of forest fires in many of the areas where members are off-roading and camping.
Please be aware total fire bans are in place across many rural municipalities. Each municipality may implement different bylaws but in general this means no camp fires, no charcoal barbeques or anything using natural burning fuels, no candles, and no fireworks. Some municipalities permit propane barbeques if they can be turned off with a control valve. Check before you start anything and exercise good judgement.
If you are off-roading please
– avoid metal to metal abrasion/contact that could cause sparks. e.g. worn though brake shoes/pads, chains dragging on the ground
– avoid parking hot vehicles over long grass
– keep your vehicle especially exhaust systems clean and free of debris
